Each of us, to some degree, is a product of our life experiences. They shape our personalities, worldview and ambitions. The basis of my work is 135 family photos of my experiences and rights of passage - a window into my psyche. Gestural strokes with a palette knife encapsulate nostalgic childhood experiences and the emotionally-fuelled transition towards adulthood. The style of this work owes its inspiration in part to the works of Chuck Close and Ben Quilty.
